The small island of Barbados enjoys an active social scene filled with exciting sporting events and entertaining festivals and the month of April isn’t any different!

1.    Barbados Polo Season – Hickstead Tour 2017

Polo in Barbados has been growing increasingly popular as the atmosphere of locals and visitors alike is infectious and the Hickstead Tour is not any different. This tour is guaranteed to be 4 days of outstanding (and fun) polo!

2.    Horse Racing

‘Horse Racing’ in Barbados is a fond tradition for many locals alike, as it is not only for the horse race fanatic but rather, it is a family day that can be enjoyed by all.

The culture, the excitement, the entertainment is like no other and while you’re at it, place a bet on a horse, you never know what can happen!

3.     Hike

The Barbados National Trust, as well as the Barbados Hiking Association, has an active schedule for hiking enthusiasts. More importantly, these hikes are not only for the enthusiasts but rather, it is a chance for locals and tourists alike to keep fit (and healthy) while having the chance to intimately explore and discover the island.

This truly is an opportunity to see (and appreciate) Barbados – up close and personal!

4.    Barbados International Game Fishing Tournament

The Barbados International Fishing Tournament, held at the luxurious Port St. Charles Marina, is one of the premier fishing events in the Caribbean.

But, don’t just go for the fishing, go for the atmosphere – the drinks, the music and even a pig roast!

This exciting tournament is unlike no other tournament and shouldn’t be missed!

5.    Oistins Fish Festival

Oistins, home to the weekly ‘Oistins Fish Fry’, is Barbados’ smallest city as well as an active fishing town on the south coast of the island. Oistins is also home to the ‘Oistins Fish Festival’ which is held annually during the Easter weekend.

It is a well-known fact that Barbados is filled with exciting and engaging festivals and the Oistins Fish Festival is no different. Not only does the festival pay homage to local fishermen for their skills and essentially all things ‘fishing’ it also features exciting competitions such as the net throwing and fish boning competitions and even the greasy pole competition – and who wouldn’t want to see that!

Amongst all of the competitions, you’ll also have the chance to be entertained by live music, numerous street vendors and much much more!

Everything about Oistins is authentic and you’d truly the atmosphere – ‘Bajan’ Style!

6.    The Digicel Barbados Reggae Festival

FAS Promotions presents one of the best reggae festivals in the world – The Digicel Barbados Reggae Festival!

This annual festival comprises of four fantastic reggae themed events featuring a mixture of local, regional and international Reggae artists. The best thing about the reggae festival is they there is something for anyone!

7.    Professional Cricket League Regional 4-day Tournament 

Cricket is without a doubt the number one sport played on the island and is hence considered the national sport of Barbados. It is no secret that Barbados has produced some of the greatest Cricketing Legends in the world such as Sir Everton Weekes, Sir Frank Worrell and Sir Garfield Sobers (just to name a few) and this has made Barbados one the favourite Cricketing Destinations in the Caribbean, and to some extent, the world.

The energy, the entertainment and most importantly the culture is what makes cricket in Barbados one of a kind!
